It’s National Breakfast Week! Do your kids eat breakfast every day? Did you know that 1 in 5 kids misses breakfast every day? That’s a lot of growling tummies! Missing out on breakfast means missing out on potential energy. Energy that kids need to learn at their full potential.
Breakfast can be as simple as a bowl of cereal. Or maybe you have time for some scrambled eggs and bacon. On the go? Grab a piece of toast with peanut butter or cream cheese! Maybe a granola bar. The point is to eat something to start your day! Lead by example because if your kids see YOU SKIPPING BREAKFAST, they will too.

Making sure your chid gets breakfast means they won’t be as hungry at lunchtime, and not distracted during morning classes!
My kids actually get breakfast TWICE. Well, sort of. Both Sebby and Quincy get protein milkshakes before they head off to school in the morning. Then at school, depending on the schedule for the day, they get breakfast or a heavy snack. Their educators, like me, know they importance of getting food in their tummies. I love that they eat at school.
I’m hoping to share breakfast with my son’s developmental preschool class sometime this month (you know, in addition to bring a new baby home) and maybe even this week for National Breakfast Week. Fingers crossed I find the time. In the meantime , I’ll make sure I will send some nutritious treats to share with his classmates.
